A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Professional Nursing Experience is defined as:
One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes:
1) implementing and evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of quality management programs within a hospital; 2) analyzing and evaluating patient care programs and operations; 3) assisting with the design of educational training pertaining to attainment and maintenance of safe health care delivery; 4) identifying critical patient safety issues or problems to minimize risk of future occurrences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
